Why the Assure System
The Assure System products are trusted by veterinarians and equestrians across the country to support the most challenging digestive cases. The combination of prebiotics, probiotics, digestive enzymes, yeast and psyllium in Assure Guard, Assure Plus and Assure Guard Gold provides support from foregut to hindgut.
Because we are confident in the products, the program covers more than most: both surgical and medical colic, older horses, and horses with a colic history. Most colics never go to surgery, so a surgery-only program can leave you with the bill.
The two Wellness Programs
On enrollment your horse is assigned to the Colic Free Wellness Program or the Colic History Wellness Program, based on history, size, weight and other factors. Within either you can use the system approach (Assure Guard plus Assure Plus) or the single-product approach (Assure Guard Gold). Follow the assigned dosing throughout enrollment to remain eligible.
Enroll a horse

Filing a claim
All forms are completed online. Completed claims are reviewed within 5 business days and reimbursement is issued within 10 business days of the decision. Veterinary bills must be paid in full before reimbursement.
Frequently asked questions
How is the Colic Assurance Program different from other colic programs?
Other programs disqualify elderly horses or horses with a colic history, and most refuse to cover non-surgical colic treatments, the most common kind. CAP covers medical and surgical colic, horses with a history of colic or prior colic surgery, continued coverage after an episode on the program, coverage during international travel, and horses of all ages once weaned, geriatric horses included.
What products are eligible?
Assure Guard, Assure Plus and Assure Guard Gold are the only products eligible for the CAP. Once qualified, your horse is recommended for the Colic History Wellness Program or the Colic Free Wellness Program. Within both you can choose the system approach (Assure Guard and Assure Plus) or the single-product approach (Assure Guard Gold).
What age of horse can be covered?
Any horse, once weaned and at least 5 months of age, is eligible. There is no upper age limit, although some limitations in coverage may apply.
Is there a fee to enroll?
No. The program is free of charge with the purchase of qualifying Assure System products.
How long does approval take?
Approval occurs within 5 business days of a completed enrollment form. Complete every question to keep the process quick.
Can I enroll more than one horse, or a leased horse?
Yes to both. Submit one enrollment form per horse. For leased horses the lessee or agent can complete the forms, but the owner's information is required.
My horse is already on the Assure System. Can I enroll?
Yes. You must still follow the initial loading dose protocol and your assigned Wellness Program.
Can horses outside the USA enroll?
Horses must reside primarily within the USA. Enrolled horses stay covered while travelling internationally.
Can miniature horses, donkeys or mules enroll?
Not at this time. Dosing research for miniature horses, burros, donkeys, mules, zebras and zorses is still pending.
Do I need veterinary records to enroll?
Not at enrollment. To file a claim you will need at least 12 months of veterinary records showing an annual exam, vaccinations and a vet-directed deworming protocol. If you recently bought the horse, records from the previous owner (up to 3 years) may be requested.
Which veterinarian can treat a colic episode?
Any licensed veterinarian. Episodes not attended by a veterinarian are not eligible for reimbursement.
What if I stop feeding the products or sell the horse?
Complete the CAP Discontinuation Form so the enrollment is closed correctly.
